Critical Conversations

Do you avoid difficult conversations entirely, or maybe you bottle things up then when you can’t take it any longer, you erupt. Perhaps you have a go at holding difficult conversations but find the issue still isn’t resolved and there are heightened emotions on both sides. This very practical course will give you the skills and opportunity to practice holding difficult conversations – well. By working on a real conversation you have in mind, you will immediately be able to plan and hold a conversation that will get you better results.
To support the course, Leapfrog Training and Development has developed a practical planning tool to help you prepare for critical conversations and this will be available at the training.

We will:

  • Understand how we interpret our world and assess the impact of this on our conversation
  • Learn how to enter into dialogue to get the best results
  • Learn how to manage emotions
  • Establish an environment where both parties feel free to talk openly and honestly
  • Practice using tools to bring the conversation back to a non-emotional level when you or the other person are getting defensive or emotional
  • Plan to hold a critical conversation
  • Practice the skills of holding these types of conversations
